An attractive market for international manufacturers -
Spiraling demand for commercial vehicles in the Middle East

Despite the current economic situation, the UAE and the whole Gulf Region will continue to experience surging demand for commercial vehicles. This trend can be attributed to an amalgamation of factors. These include:

Middle East as a re-export hub:
Thanks to its strategic location and state-of-the-art infrastructure, the UAE is the main re-export hub in the region and the third most important in the world. Booming trade has led to an increased use of commercial vehicles by transport and logistics companies.

Emerging manufacturing and oil & gas sector:
In these sectors the UAE is currently experiencing a major upswing, with oil and gas accounting for one-third of GNP. New manufacturing units and oil & gas facilities are coming on stream. The result is a marked rise in demand for HGVs.

Increased government expenditure on public services:
More public-service projects such as hospitals, schools and police stations, are translating into substantial demand for special-purpose vehicles. A further rise in government expenditure is planned, to accelerate recovery from the current downturn.

Construction:
The Middle East has experienced a mammoth construction effort over the last six years. Major privately funded and government projects have now been restarted. The need to transport building materials, machinery and equipment has triggered a huge demand for commercial vehicles.

Growing population:
The UAE’s population has soared by over 5% p.a. in recent years. To ease the pressure on the travel and transport infrastructure, the government has been making substantial investment in the public transport system.

Free Zones:
More than 10,000 import and re-export companies from across the globe are currently based in Free Zones in the UAE, resulting in an increased flow of goods and services to, from and across the country. A wide range of commercial vehicles are needed for the logistical operations involved.
